Providing Quality Custom Conversion for Conductive and Non-conductive Flexible Gasket Materials
- Defense
- Automotive/Electric Vehicles
- Uncrewed Systems

Today’s system requirements demand optimal performance in extremely harsh environments. Severe temperatures, EMI shielding requirements, fuel, and harsh chemicals can push the specification limits of commercially available materials. In response to these challenges, MIL-SPEC Gaskets and Seals manufactured from Silicone or Fluorosilicone, among other materials, can provide the specifications required to meet the performance demands of Defense applications.
Automotive and Electric Vehicles provide challenges for gaskets and seals. Environmental sealing, thermal management protection, EMI shielding, noise elimination, vibration and harshness are all issues encountered in Automotive design. Choosing the correct material for the application is critical for these design requirements. It must seal out water, dust, moisture, and road salt for proper ingress protection. PNA can assist in choosing the right materials for these design requirements.
Many Uncrewed Systems’ components need EMI shielding. Examples include the radio controller and the radio receiver, the flight computer that is connected to a telemetry radio, failsafe switch and the various servos or flight control actuators. EMI elastomers that use either Silicone or Fluorosilicone as the base elastomer and are sometimes filled with nickel-aluminum, nickel-graphite, silver-aluminum, silver-copper, silver-glass, and silver-nickel provide excellent shielding for the many components within an uncrewed system.
EMI gaskets help to protect electronic devices and equipment against disruptions and disturbances caused by electromagnetic interference (EMI). Because these shielding gaskets are made of particle-filled silicones, they also provide environmental sealing and resist a wide range of service temperatures. Depending on the durometer, the base elastomer supports varying degrees of compression. The metal or metal-coated particles provide EMI shielding and electrical conductivity.
